About Bitbud
Bitbud is the website of the technical (and sometimes non-technical) ramblings of one IT geek.
I setup this site so that I can share technical information with friends, and anyone else that is interested. I am often asked my opinions on many IT subjects, so this gives me a place to drop my 2 cents. So take it for what it is worth: a central repository of technical information and opinions from me. Of particular interest to me is how to utilize FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) to enable the Church to be more effective in their ministries. I am not against using non-FOSS software, but am focused on finding the best-fit solution to a problem. It just so happens that FOSS is that solution most of the time.
I am an IT Engineer (aka Bit Janitor ©) for a software company is south Florida. I’m also the Director of the IT Team for my church (http://yesheritage.com). I’ve been working in the IT field for 15 years, and I am passionate about using technology to enable the Church to share the Good News of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15).
What does BitBud mean?
A bit is the smallest (most basic) discernible piece of computer logic, a bit is either a 0 or a 1, and it represents an electrical state (off or on). All computing is built on this foundation (ref: http://bidbud.com).
Bud like buddy.
